Why We Exist

When I founded my first business A Kid at Art™ in 2001, my goal was to share my love of art with children-all children- but with the changing demographics in my semi-rural home community, and the crushing financial demands being placed on our public schools in recent years, those children whose lives would be best served by engagement with the arts are no longer able to access them.

A Kid at Art for the Heart™ was founded to give every child a chance at a great start in life through active engagement with the arts during the early years of childhood development. Art is more than self-expression; more than therapeutic. It is a window to infinite possibilities, encouraging children to aspire to better and greater things than the world in which they find themselves.

Art is a gift every child deserves. By making it more accessible in my own little corner of the world, I hope to pass forward a confident spirit of fearless exploration that will encourage the children whose lives our programs touch to transform our community into a stronger, more joyful place.

The work we do is made possible through the generous support of community-based foundations, service organizations, and individual donors that recognize the critical role art engagement plays in early childhood development. Innovative learning solutions fostering preschooler creativity, instill confidence, channel self-expression, and inspire children to imagine and realize possibilities for personal advancement and achievement.

We strive to make a meaningful difference not only in the lives of the individual children we serve, but also in the communities in which we live and work.  Our goal is to empower children to recreate the world in which they live into a world as colorful, free, and joyful as their best imaginings!
